B.W.A.R.F!All divers should do a final pre-dive check before they jump into the water. Also called the buddy check, here’s a quick review on how to do it: B is for BCDCheck for:1) Everything is connected [buckles, air inflator hose]2) Dump valves are working3) BCD holds air and has no leaks/tears.4) The tank is secured safely and correctly. W is for WeightsCheck for:1) Weight belts are on and secured.2) Make sure the weight belts are set for a “Right-hand” release.3) Your buddy should know how your weight release works. A is for AirCheck for:1) Tank’s valve is fully open [but not forced]2) Pressure gauge is working and how much Air pressure your buddy has3) Check Air in both primary and secondary regulators. That Dive Advice: To check Gauge is working, ask your buddy to breathe from the primary Regulator the pressure gauge should be steady. R is for ReleasesCheck for:1) Locations of all releases [BCD, Tank Strap, Attached equipment like torches etc.]2) All releases should be safe and secure.3) Buddies should be aware of how to undo all the releases in case of an emergency F is for Final OKCheck for:1) Final head to toe check.2) Masks and Fin are on.3) Does everything look good to go? That Dive Advice: You should check how your buddy is feeling about the dive, make sure they aren’t feeling sick or too anxious and address them before the dive. Although, there are a number of acronyms that you can use to remember the Buddy check but our favorite one is sure: Blonde Women Are Real Fun! Hehe.
